Exploring an Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have encountered numerous engaging independent titles. Yet, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game lets you play a protagonist that is truly a turd striving to navigate to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is simple: you only need a single jump button. In numerous levels, encounter boss fights and visit a market to purchase customizations for your fecal avatar.

Plan your actions precisely, since one mistake means beginning again. Bounce off air pockets to hurl your character higher, navigate disappearing platforms, and activate switches to open secret routes. Earn coins for buying more difficult stages in which gameplay intensifies.

Graphically, the game features eye-catching environments and an amazing background music. Its minimalist graphics of shifting geometric shapes could recall players of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to think of other games where you control a coiled turd, interactive entertainment frequently featured scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, you can make throwables from character excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, fecal references is present extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly premise, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is accessible at present on Steam, with the complete version planned to debut on computers this November.
