Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Missions Are Overly Demanding

The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, many players are voicing discontent with several of the title's hardest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.

Players have started using custom matches set up using the Portal feature to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how demanding these challenges have become.

Comprehending Battlefield 6 Objectives

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four categories of assignments, but while the majority merely grant skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of acquiring twelve from the forty-one primary weapons found within the game.

Some of these gated guns could shortly find their way on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

On Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and only works at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you aim to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

One more community participant brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is tough enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and possibly a classic map in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if tackling the tasks in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for finishing these in a custom game so allies are not impaired?

Future Adjustments

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

Currently, the player base continues to express their views on these challenging multiplayer missions, anticipating a less arduous overall gameplay in coming revisions.
