Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say early analysis show the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident made him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
